The Supplier Quality Performance Team in global action

LESER has a quality management system that accompanies all phases of product development of a safety valve. And it does so worldwide. In the first part of the mini-series on LESER Supplier Quality Performance, you will gain an insight into the standards LESER applies when evaluating suppliers.

The Supplier Quality Performance (SQP) team is located within the Materials Management organisation. The SQP team plays an important role on a global level in ensuring the quality of LESER Safety Valves and in meeting the requirements of customers and the industry.

It supports the global sourcing process in identifying potential new suppliers and conducts a comprehensive assessment of suppliers. The assessment includes technical issues as well as certifications, component qualifications and sustainability issues.

LESER sets high standards in all phases of supplier qualification

Market analysis, supplier identification, evaluation and finally the selection of a potential supplier are followed by visits to the materials management department. On site, the SQP team checks the quality-relevant process steps of the potential suppliers and evaluates them against the requirements and experience around supplier qualification.

Root cause analyses, key figures from the area of supplier evaluations and best practice experiences are used for this purpose.
These measures take place before the official audit by LESER QM.

The assessment of sustainability criteria is also an important part of the process.

The SQP team checks on site whether suppliers comply with occupational health and safety, safety and environmental requirements and whether they comply with at least the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact.

Suppliers are provided with a detailed explanation of LESER quality requirements, specifications, and testing procedures to ensure they meet these requirements. The necessary certificates and documents are made available to suppliers to ensure that all products comply with the applicable standards and regulations. Any queries can be clarified at the initial stage so that optimizations can be made at an early stage.

Initial sample inspection and coordination are carried out to ensure that the products meet the required specifications and fulfil all requirements. A thorough incoming goods inspection is carried out on all incoming deliveries of LESER Safety Valve parts to ensure that the products meet the required quality standards.

About supplier development, LESER maintains close cooperation with its suppliers. In this way, LESER ensures that the required quality standards are met. Likewise, the suppliers receive support in improving their manufacturing processes and in implementing quality initiatives to ensure that the products always meet the required quality standards.

Overall, the SQP team thus helps to ensure the consistently high quality of LESER Safety Valves that meets both customer requirements and the specifications of the various industries.

Stay tuned - in the following webnews you will get detailed insights into the procedure of initial sample qualification and supplier development, incoming goods inspection/certificate inspection, and supplier scorecards.
