Sustainability calls for solutions

For a mechanical engineering company like LESER, sustainability means developing future-ready solutions and implementing them in a resource-efficient fashion. Objectives include reducing carbon emissions, maximizing energy efficiency and minimizing resource use, both on a local and international level.

Acting responsibly for the benefit of future generations is a matter of course for LESER, a company with a 200-year history. LESER is committed to the three pillars of sustainability, setting itself economic, ecological and social goals every fiscal year. Initiatives and projects in various divisions of the company ensure that our goals will be met and that our development is sustainable. In addition,  as a member of the UN Global Compact, LESER contributes to the 17 Sustainability Goals the United Nations want to achieve globally by the year 2030.

Initial preparations for the 2026 LESER Sustainability report

Under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), LESER will be required to submit sustainability reports in the future. Since 2014, around 11,700 publicly traded EU corporations with over 500 employees have been required to disclose sustainability information. As of 2024, another 50,000 companies are being added step-by-step. LESER has begun implementing the requirements in order to be able to publish Sustainability Reports as of 2026. The challenge is to identify the key data points relevant to our company from a total of roughly 1,200 items specified by the European CSRD reporting standards. Establishing a transparent reporting system across  all LESER sites is the ultimate goal.

EcoVadis Silver Medal
In 2024, LESER again successfully raised its score in the independent sustainability assessment by EcoVadis, the largest provider of company ratings worldwide. LESER was again awarded a silver medal for its sustainability achievements in 2024. This places LESER among the top 15 percent of companies of its industry assessed during the past 12 months.
