German Safety Days - a resounding success

The feedback from participants at the German Safety Days in Hamburg was nothing short of enthusiastic: “A very important trade conference with a well-rounded program. This is where you meet key contacts from the plant and process industry in the field of safety." It's one of the best events for our community to get up to speed and gain new inspiration." 'Everyone talks to everyone here, and the speakers stay around and are approachable if you want to discuss topics in more depth.' 'I get more out of this than many trade fairs because the program of presentations is so varied and, combined with the practical workshops, offers real added value.' These were just a few of the comments from participants.

In fact, the opening evening was marked by friendly reunions, with new participants being warmly welcomed and integrated into the discussion groups. The demonstrations in the chat room and the test facility at LESER Kontor, as well as the bursting disc and flame arrestor demonstrations by REMBE® GmbH Safety+Control and PROTEGO® | Braunschweiger Flammenfilter GmbH, were impressive.

After welcoming the participants at Factory Hammerbrooklyn, a highly topical panel discussion on the topic of “Energy in transition: “Ways forward for tomorrow's energy supply," which was moderated by participants Michael Henriksen, CEO, Wavepiston A/S, and Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Tobias Hirsch, Senior Sales Manager, MAN Energy Solutions, offered interesting insights into energy generation via wave power, hydrogen, large heat pumps, and more.

LESER is already working with Wavepiston on this forward-looking technology for generating energy from wave power. Off the coast of Gran Canaria, the PLOCAN project is underway to generate innovative energy from wave power. Here, LESER is using safety valves for the first time at a depth of two meters below the water surface in hostile seawater. The pump system is protected by the Type 526 1E2 safety valve.

The first two sessions of the program were followed by a presentation by BASF on the digital data chain in the process industry, before moving on to various workshops. Further presentations from Shell, Linde, and SAP followed in the afternoon. It was particularly valuable that all the speakers were themselves participants in the event, which resulted in an open, personal exchange that was also actively utilized during the breaks.

Afterwards, guests had a choice of various leisure activities: a harbor tour, a visit to the Titanic exhibition, Miniatur Wunderland, or a shopping trip to the new Westfield Mall in HafenCity – there was something for everyone.

The evening was rounded off in a special atmosphere – in the historic warehouse floor in the middle of the Speicherstadt. The lively discussions continued late into the evening. Friday's program includes a visit to The Factory of Safety Valves in Hohenwestedt – another highlight.
