The production expansion in Hohenwestedt

LESER produces 150,000 safety valves annually in Hohenwestedt (Schleswig-Holstein, Germany) and plans to expand the plant by 15,000 m². The last production expansion was completed in 2018. However, the current space capacity is no longer sufficient to meet the growing customer business and the requirements for new technologies and an efficient material flow.
Building construction will begin in 2024, so that the building will be completed in spring 2026. LESER is investing €41.3 million in this construction project. In addition, further expansion steps are planned up to 2032 as part of the plant structure planning.

LESER growth global

LESER has grown in recent years and would like to expand this growth. The existing production, logistics and office space is now fully occupied and partially compressed. The current space allocation does not ensure an optimal flow of materials and makes further growth difficult. The construction project will enable LESER to further expand its market position as a global supplier of safety valves.

Innovative technologies

As part of the production expansion, investments will be made not only in the building structure but also in new operating equipment in order to control production processes even more efficiently in the future. In the process, an automated long goods storage system will be built, which will be directly connected to new sawing machines.

Sustainable construction

A planning company was commissioned for the new building to create a holistic energy concept and ensure that LESER's goal of CO2-neutral* production by 2035.

CO2 neutrality will be achieved in Scope 1 (direct emissions from own facilities and processes) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam or heat).

Photovoltaic systems will be installed on all new hall roofs. In addition, the heating of the new hall body is to be provided by the use of air-source heat pumps, thus eliminating the need for fossil fuels. In addition, the waste heat from the machines and systems will be included in the energy balance.

Lean material flow

Additional floor space capacity created by the construction of the new production hall will eliminate waste in the current material flow. By rearranging segments, machines and equipment, material flows can be kept lean, so that the process time of a safety valve through production is reduced and our customers can be supplied even faster.

Modern working environment

The new production hall offers LESER employees a modern working environment. Increased sound insulation for office workstations as well as meeting points, training and conference rooms can raise the standard of the working environment. In addition, there will be so-called "think tanks" next to the office spaces where employees can retreat for digital meetings.

LESER is growing. By expanding its plant, LESER is increasing its production capacities and can meet its customers' requirements even better and faster.
